News Topical, Digital Desk : Pakistan has asked the US to take back the weapons left in Afghanistan. These weapons are falling into the hands of terrorists and are posing a threat to regional security. A large quantity of military weapons were left behind during the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Pakistani military spokesman Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that the uncontrolled proliferation of US weapons is a direct threat to Pakistan's stability. The stockpile of US weapons, estimated by the Pentagon to be worth more than seven billion dollars, includes armoured vehicles, advanced firearms, biometric systems and other sensitive equipment, reports Khaama Press.

Many of these weapons are believed to have been seized by the Pakistani Taliban and are now being used against the Pakistan Army. The prices of US-made weapons are skyrocketing in Afghan black markets such as Khost and Paktika. An M4 rifle sells for over $4,200, while an M16 rifle sells for $1,400.

Chinese rifles are available at lower prices, but militants prefer the reliability and quality of American models. The Washington Post is quoted as saying that as many as 400,000 weapons supplied by NATO may be in the Taliban's control.
