Washington. China's investment in Pakistan is a thing of the past, now we are the future for Pakistan's development. This was said by US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu before a committee of MPs. He has expressed concern over China's growing influence in Bangladesh.

Several MPs had asked Lu questions expressing concern over China's investments in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives and other Central-South Asian countries. In response, Lu said, China is working with the intention of building military bases in every country and earning huge profits from each project.

China is also capturing natural resources

For this, it is increasing pressure on countries by giving loans, and at the same time increasing the number of its workers there. In the countries where China sets up projects, it does not train the people there to operate them. Due to this, there will always be a need for Chinese workers to operate that project and the concerned country will also remain dependent on China. Not only this, China is also taking over the natural resources of the country taking loans.

In return, China does not do anything for the welfare of the people living near the project site. Following this policy, China has invested 26 billion dollars in Pakistan. But China does not want to increase investment there now. During this time, MP Rich McCormick also expressed the fear of foreign investment sinking in Pakistan.

America's relations with India may be affected

He said that increasing relations with Pakistan can affect America's relations with India which is a rapidly developing country. Lu admitted that America is facing many challenges in Pakistan.

Said, President Biden has been requested to approve a fund of $100 million for Pakistan. With this amount, we will work to strengthen democracy and social institutions in Pakistan. Along with this, we will help it for economic reforms.
