As soon as the local people got the news of the action of the officials who came with the police force, they gathered in large numbers and started protesting. Women stopped the MP's car and fell at his feet.
Local people claim that the sentiments of the local people are deeply attached to this Dharamshala. For years, this building has not only been a resting place for travelers and the poor, but has also been a center of religious and social events. The administration declaring it "dilapidated" and starting the process of demolition has not gone down well with the locals. The protesters said that if the Dharamshala is demolished, there will be a big protest.

When the team of the Municipal Corporation and the District Administration reached to demolish the Dharamshala located on Ramghat Road with bulldozers and other machines, the people of Aspal gathered there in large numbers. MP Satish Gautam reached the spot. He assured the crowd that public sentiments regarding the Dharamshala will be respected and the administration will not be allowed to take any hasty steps. He said, "I will personally talk to the officials in this matter. Until the public agrees, the Dharamshala will not be demolished." The situation became normal after the MP's assurance.
On the other hand, the administration argued that this Dharamshala is now in a very dangerous condition and can collapse at any time. An official said, "We have a technical report which states that this structure is no longer usable. It is necessary to remove it before any untoward incident happens." The administration says that if the people agree, a new Dharamshala can be constructed at this place.
