News Topical, Digital Desk : The ongoing investigation into US Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-Deremer has revealed sensational facts. It has been revealed that she kept a stash of alcohol in her office and that she sparked a major controversy by taking officials to a strip club during an official trip. The investigation is deepening, revealing everything from affair rumors to travel fraud.
The investigation confirmed that rumors of the minister's "inappropriate" relationship with an official had been circulating for months, but were dismissed by his chief of staff, Jihyun Han. Han and his deputy, Rebecca Wright, were placed on leave on Monday.
At least a dozen people were questioned.
The complaint, first reported by The New York Post, alleges that Chavez-Deremer committed travel fraud by having Hahn and Wright pretend to be on official trips. It also alleges that he drank alcohol during the day and pressured staff members. At least a dozen people have been questioned so far.
The investigation also revealed a new incident: During an official visit to Oregon in April 2025, Chavez-Deremer took officers to a strip club called Angels PDX outside Portland.
Affair rumours or truth?
The Labor Department's inspector general is now looking into all evidence, including video footage of at least five meetings between Chavez-Deremer and her alleged lover, including at a Washington, D.C., apartment and a Las Vegas hotel. The official is now on administrative leave and was not available for comment.
A Labor Department spokesperson said Friday, "The Department will not comment on internal or personnel matters. The Secretary remains focused on fulfilling the Department's mission and supporting American workers."
