News Topical, Digital Desk : Lucknow News: Samajwadi Party national president and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has once again launched a scathing attack on the BJP government. He said that the BJP made false promises to the public in the name of cleaning the rivers and only misused the budget of thousands of crores of rupees. He alleged that the BJP government is anti-development and it stopped the river cleaning schemes started by the Samajwadi government.
Akhilesh Yadav said that the riverfront project built on the Gomti river during the Samajwadi government was an example, by looking at which cleaning of other rivers could also be possible. But the BJP government left this project incomplete only due to political animosity. He said, "Through the Gomti Riverfront, we showed the world how rivers can be made clean, beautiful and useful. But the BJP stopped that too and now the public is being deceived in the name of cleaning the Ganga and Yamuna."
'River cleaning campaigns are only on paper'
The former Chief Minister said that campaigns like 'Namami Gange' of the BJP government are only on paper. He said that even today Ganga is flowing as dirty as it was earlier. Citing the report of the Wildlife Institute of India, he said that due to chemical pollution in Ganga, many species of aquatic animals are in danger.
Will Yamuna river be cleaned or will it be just politics? Akhilesh Yadav
Akhilesh Yadav said, the river gives life, it does not take anyone's life. But instead of cleaning the rivers, the BJP government has only cleaned the budget. Now the question is whether there will be only politics in the name of Yamuna or will it be cleaned as well? Referring to the plight of Yamuna flowing behind the Taj Mahal, he said that it is also damaging the image of the country and the state.
The SP chief quipped that if BJP wants, it can take tuitions in river cleaning from the socialists. In our time, cleaning and beautification of Gomti riverfront was an ideal. If BJP people want, they can take guest lectures from us. He also said that now the public itself has prepared a program for cleaning BJP. The day BJP is cleaned from power, everything from rivers to the country's budget will be cleaned.
Namami Gange project was started in the year 2014.
The central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the 'Namami Gange' scheme in the year 2014. Under this scheme, a budget of thousands of crores of rupees was released to clean the river Ganga. But experts and reports show that the expected progress in cleaning the Ganga has not been made yet. At the same time, the Gomti Riverfront project started during the Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh came into the limelight at that time, however, it remained incomplete after the change of power.
