News Topical, Digital Desk : A second-year Delhi University student has been attacked with acid. The student was attacked a short distance from the college. Although she managed to protect her face, her hand was burned.
The victim, a student at Laxmibai College in Northwest Delhi, had gone to an extra class on Sunday when three young men arrived on a motorcycle and threw acid on her near the college.
The student had gone for extra class
According to police, on Sunday (October 26), a call was received from Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital regarding a 20-year-old student admitted with acid burns. Upon questioning, the victim stated that she was a second-year (non-college) student and had gone to an extra class at Laxmi Bai College, Ashok Vihar.
The accused came on a bike
According to the student, while she was walking to college, her acquaintance, Jitendra, a resident of Mukundapur, arrived on a motorcycle with his friends, Ishaan and Armaan. Ishaan allegedly handed a bottle to Armaan, who then threw acid on her. The victim tried to shield her face, but suffered burns to both her hands. The accused fled the scene.
'Jitendra used to follow me'
The victim further stated that Jitendra had been stalking her and that they had a heated argument about a month ago. The crime scene and FSL team inspected the scene. Based on the student's statement and injuries, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and the investigation is ongoing.
