With Congress support, the BJP is poised to secure a majority in the Ambernath Municipal Council. The Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) has labeled this alliance an "indecent alliance." BJP gets support from Congress and Ajit Pawar faction
BJP's Tejashree Karanjule has won the mayoral post. The BJP is poised to secure a majority by forming a coalition of 32 councilors: 16 from the BJP, 12 from the Congress, and 4 from the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction).
Betrayed Shiv Sena – MLA
Meanwhile, the Shinde faction has taunted the BJP, calling it an indecent alliance. This alliance is being considered a setback for the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). MLA Balaji Kinikar of the Shinde faction said that the BJP, which advocates for a "Congress-free India," has betrayed the Shiv Sena by joining hands with the Congress.
BJP Vice President retaliated
BJP Vice President Gulabrao Karanjule Patil said that if the Shinde faction, which has been corrupt for the past 25 years, had been in power, that would have been the real "unholy alliance." He also said that several attempts were made to negotiate a grand alliance with the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) for the Ambernath Municipal Council, but no positive response was received from their leaders.
Mahayuti's strong performance in local body elections
It should be noted that the results of the Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections in Maharashtra were announced in December. The BJP emerged as the largest party in these local body elections. The Mahayuti (Mahagathbandhan) won the chairpersonship in 288 municipal councils and 207 municipal councils. Meanwhile, the opposition alliance, the Maha Vikas Aghadi, won only 44 seats.
