News Topical, Digital Desk : A serious case of assault has come to light inside the courtroom in Delhi's Tis Hazari District Court. Here, a lawyer was beaten up in the court in front of the judge when he was presenting the case of an accused. This case of the victim lawyer was heard in the Supreme Court. He told the CJI that when he was appearing on behalf of an accused, the lawyer of the other side along with some people forcibly entered the courtroom. The judge was sitting in the court at that time, but still the lawyer was attacked. The lawyer said that the police did not help at all.
CJI's strong remarks on hooliganism in court
During the Supreme Court's mention of the matter, CJI Surya Kant strongly objected. He stated that this type of "hooliganism" is simply intolerable. It is a clear failure of the rule of law. Strict action will be taken against those responsible.
CJI assured action
CJI Surya Kant advised the lawyer to first submit a written complaint to the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, and to send a copy of the complaint to him as well. The Chief Justice assured him that the matter would be looked into at the administrative level and necessary action would be taken.

The lawyer explained that the incident occurred on February 7th, and that the judge and all judicial officials were present in the court at the time. The CJI stated clearly that violence in the court premises is a very serious matter. If lawyers are not safe inside the court, it raises alarm bells for the entire judicial system. The court stated that strict action is necessary to address such incidents so that no one dares to take the law into their own hands in the future.
