When Sushil, the contract JCB driver, refused to demolish the temple, a private driver was called in. Tehsildar Mahendra Tiwari used a chisel to safely remove the idols from the ground.

A few months ago, the district administration conducted measurements to widen the road at Captain Manoj Pandey Chowk. Under this measure, construction within a 150-meter radius was to be removed.

The temple was being encroached upon

Near the intersection, there is a small, approximately 25-year-old temple dedicated to Goddess Durga. On Sunday, SDM Sadar Damini M. Das and Tehsildar Mahendra Tiwari arrived at the site with a JCB, as the temple was under encroachment.

As action was about to be taken, people protested. The SDM explained that the idols in the temple would be safely moved to the Shiv Shakti Dham near the market and that the Dham would also be renovated. Only then did the locals relent.
