The story is found in Skanda Purana

According to the story described in Skanda Purana, Suryadev was married to Sanjna, the daughter of Daksha. Suryadev and Sanjna had three children Manu, Yamraj and Yamuna. Sanjna was unable to bear the brilliance of Suryadev. Troubled by this, she once went to her father.

But her father turned her away saying that now Surya Lok is her home. After returning to Surya Lok, Sangya created her shadow and went to meditate herself. The Sun's brightness had no effect on Sangya's shadow. Chhaya never let Suryadev know that she was not his wife Sangya.

Later, Chaya and Surya had three children, Tapati, Bhadra and Shani Dev. When Shani Dev was born, Suryadev suspected that Shani Dev was not his child and insulted Chaya a lot. Seeing his mother being insulted, Shani Dev became angry with his father Suryadev.

However, after knowing the whole truth, Surya Dev realized his mistake and apologized to Chhaya. But after this incident, the relationship between Shani Dev and Surya got spoiled.
