
The court has announced the punishment in the case of burning a leopard alive a few years ago in Pauri district of Uttarakhand. The court has sentenced 5 villagers, including the then village head of Sapalodi village of Pauri, to simple imprisonment of 1 year each. Along with this, a fine of Rs 35,000 each has also been imposed on the culprits. Let us tell you that this case is of the year 2022 when a leopard causing terror was burnt alive by the villagers.
What is the whole matter?
Actually, in the year 2022, leopards had created terror in many villages including Bhatti village, Sarda, Kul Mori and Sapalodi of Pabau area of Pauri district. On March 15, 20222, Sushma Devi of Sapalodi village was hunted by a leopard. After this, the leopard was caught with the help of the forest department. However, people burned it to death.
Leopard burnt alive
The next day after the death of the village woman, the forest department set up two cages in Saplauri village on the demand of the villagers. A leopard was trapped in one of these cages. When the forest department people went to the village to take the caged leopard, a large crowd of villagers gathered there. The villagers set the leopard on fire alive. After this, on the complaint of the forest inspector, the police registered a case against five named and 150 unknown people under various sections.
1-1 year jail sentence
On Thursday, the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Pauri convicted Gram Pradhan Anil Kumar Negi, Devendra Singh of Chopra village, Sarita Devi, Bhuvaneshwari Devi and Kailash Devi of Sarda village. The court sentenced all of them to 1 year imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 35,000 each. If the fine is not paid, all of them will have to serve an additional 15 days of imprisonment.
