UP News: The meeting of the JPC constituted on the Waqf Act was held in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday. MPs from all parties and ministers of the UP government also attended the meeting chaired by Bharatiya Janata Party MP and JPC Chief Jagdambika Pal.

After the meeting, Uttar Pradesh government minister Danish Ansari said that today's meeting was very positive. The UP government is in support of the Waqf Amendment Bill. He said that everyone feels that the welfare of poor Muslims should be ensured and the Waqf land should be regulated and put to proper use.

Meanwhile, Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali said that we have been called for the JPC meeting. We hope that our amendments and our issues will be resolved.

Apart from this, Minority Welfare Minister in the UP government, Om Prakash Rajbhar said that in today's meeting, work will be done to resolve the objections received from the stakeholders.

What did the government say in the JPC meeting?
According to sources, on behalf of the UP government, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Minority Welfare Department ACS Monika Garg presented the side of the UP government and her department.

If sources are to be believed, Monica said in front of JPC in the meeting - Waqf has 14 thousand hectares of land in UP. Out of this, 11 thousand (about 78 percent) is government land. Lucknow's Bada Imambara, Chota Imambara and Bahu-Begum's tomb in Ayodhya also belong to the government. However, the Shia Waqf Board opposed it and many members present in the meeting opposed it.
