In the month of May, the heat of summer has increased so much that it has become difficult for people to even go out of the house. However, due to rain in some parts of the country, the weather remains mild. But the heat of summer has started in the country's capital Delhi. Sunday was the hottest day in Delhi this season. On May 5, the maximum temperature here was recorded at 41.1 degrees Celsius, two degrees more than normal. This was the highest temperature recorded so far this summer in the national capital.

Delhi's climate

The heat of May has now started in the country's capital Delhi and at present there is no sign of any relief in this season. IMD has not yet given any update on the heat wave but now hot winds are being felt. The sky will remain clear in Delhi till May 8, which means the scorching sun will bother you and the mercury can reach 42 degrees. There are chances of rain in the capital on May 9 but it will be minor rain. According to IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi can remain between 41 to 42 degrees Celsius this entire week. The minimum temperature is likely to be between 24 to 26 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, on May 6, a severe heat wave warning was issued in some parts of Bihar, Odisha, Vidarbha, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. An alert has been issued for heavy rains along with thunderstorms in Gangetic West Bengal. Apart from this, an orange alert has been issued for heavy rain in Assam and Meghalaya.

According to weather forecasting agency Skymet, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms along with lightning and strong winds (40-50 km per hour) are expected in Northeast India. While there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain on the 5th and 6th of May, there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in Sikkim on the 5th of May.

Apart from this, there may be sporadic heavy rainfall in Gangetic West Bengal on May 7 and 8, while between May 7 and 10, there may be light rain with thunder and lightning in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. There is a possibility of moderate rain. On May 4 and 5, there may be light to moderate rain in the western Himalayan region and sporadic snowfall in the upper areas. There will be light to very light rain in southern Rajasthan and Gujarat on May 5.

Between May 6 and 9, there will be light-to-light thunderstorms with thunder and lightning in some parts of Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Vidarbha, South-East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. There may be moderate rain. Heat wave conditions are possible at 1 or 2 places over parts of Gangetic West Bengal and Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, South Interior Karnataka, Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu.
