US President Donald Trump gave a big blow to Canada on Saturday. Trump has decided to impose a 25 percent tariff on goods coming from Canada. Not only Canada, but a 25 percent tariff has been imposed on goods coming from Mexico as well. A 10 percent tariff has been imposed on China.

Canada also decided to impose tariffs on America

Trump's decision has angered Canada's acting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Justin Trudeau has said that we did not want this but his country is 'ready' to face American tariffs. Justin Trudeau has announced that his country will impose a 25 percent tariff on American imports worth $155 billion.

Canada is ready for tariffs: Justin Trudeau

Soon after Trump's decision, Trudeau wrote on his X handle, "Trudeau said he will speak to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum soon and has already met with his cabinet to discuss the issue. He said, 'We didn't want this, but Canada is ready.'"

"The tariffs violate the free trade agreement that was reached a few years ago. This will have serious consequences for the American people," Trudeau said.

Why is Trump angry with Mexico?

Trump has accused Mexico of not taking any concrete steps against illegal immigration. At the same time, the Mexican government has also been unable to stop the smuggling of chemicals used for drugs called fentanyl into the US.

US-Mexico conflict over fentanyl drugs

The use of fentanyl drugs as a drug has increased in America. This drug is so hard that a person can remain intoxicated for hours by consuming it just once. This drug is used in the treatment of patients. This drug is banned in America, but drug smugglers from Mexico sell it in America.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo rejected Trump's allegations and stressed Mexico's commitment to combating crime and drug trafficking.

He said that Mexico does not want conflict. We start with cooperation between neighboring countries. Mexico wants that fentanyl drug should not reach any country, let alone America. The President of Mexico said that imposing tariff will not solve the problem.
