After Modi became the Prime Minister, leaders from all over the world sent him congratulatory messages. Also, many countries are emphasizing on good relations with India. An important statement has also come from neighboring country Pakistan regarding the relations between the two countries.
Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday called on the Modi government to seriously consider the future of bilateral ties between the two nuclear-armed neighbours. Speaking at an event here, he reiterated his previous statements on relations with India and said Pakistan has always been keen to have good relations with India.
Our relations with India have been historically strained, but Pakistan does not believe in perpetual hostility. We seek good neighbourly relations with India based on mutual respect, sovereign equality and a just and peaceful resolution of the long-standing Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
Pakistan will take every step
He also stressed that Pakistan will take every step to ensure better relations with India, but it will not hesitate to give a befitting reply to any Indian military misadventure. Dar's statement comes at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken office for the third consecutive time and is leading the NDA government.
