In a post on Twitter, WHO chief Ghebreyesus said, "Our mission to negotiate the release of UN staff and assess the health and humanitarian situation in Yemen ended today. We will continue to call for the immediate release of the detainees. About two hours before we were due to take off on our flight from Sana'a, the airport was bombed from the air. One of the crew members of our plane was injured."
He further wrote, At least two people are reported to have been killed at the airport. The air traffic control tower, the departure lounge - just a few metres from where we were - and the runway were damaged. We will have to wait until the damage to the airport is repaired before we can leave. My UN and WHO colleagues and I are safe. Our heartfelt condolences to the families whose loved ones lost their lives in the attack.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the attack and called for respect for international law, stressing that civilians and humanitarian workers should never be targeted.
These attacks are dangerous – Guterres
In a post on X, Guterres expressed regret over the recent escalation between Yemen and Israel and described the air strikes on Sanaa International Airport, Red Sea ports and power stations in Yemen as dangerous.
The airstrikes have reportedly caused numerous casualties, with at least three people killed and dozens injured, according to the UN chief. He reiterated his call for all parties to cease military action and exercise restraint.
