Manipur Violence: Armed men from the hills carried out a series of attacks with guns and bombs in some parts of Lamalai assembly constituency in East Imphal district of Manipur. The miscreants also hurled several powerful bombs at villagers and security forces.
There was a fierce firing
Officials said that the army, BSF and police retaliated, following which heavy firing took place in Sanasabi, Sabungkhok Khuno and Thamnapokpi. Tension prevails in the surrounding villages due to this incident. Due to the firing from the hilly areas in the lower areas of Sanasabi, farmers are not able to reach their paddy fields.

Police said additional forces have been deployed to prevent the situation from worsening. A day earlier on Saturday, militants shot dead a woman working in a paddy field in Bishnupur district.
Militants set six houses on fire, woman dies
On Thursday night, a 31-year-old woman was burnt to death when militants set fire to six houses in Jiribam district. In Manipur, 200 people have been killed since violence broke out between the valley-based Meitei and the hill-dwelling Kukis in May last year.
