Rishi Kapoor earned a lot of name and fame in his film career. He debuted as a lead actor in the 1973 film Bobby. His heroine in this film was Dimple Kapadia. The film was directed by his father Raj Kapoor. He also received the Best Actor award for this film. After this, the actor never looked back.

 

The actor did many films like Chandni, Laila Majnu, Deewani, Prem Rog. Rishi's charm was very strong at that time. In the year 1980, he worked in a film which he was hopeful of becoming a hit. However, this did not happen and the film flopped as soon as it came to the box office. The name of this film was Karz. This film was directed by Subhash Ghai and Tina Munim was its heroine.

 

Rishi Kapoor had gone into depression

All this happened so suddenly that Rishi Kapoor did not even expect it. He had high hopes from the film and the failure of the film affected him so much that he went into depression. His condition became so bad that he had to be admitted to the hospital.

 

Rishi Kapoor mentioned this in his autobiography Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored. The actor said that it was so difficult for him to bear this that he was not even able to face the camera.

Rishi Kapoor had told that Feroz Khan's Qurbani was released just a week after Karz. There was a lot of excitement among the fans about Qurbani which immediately ended the possibilities of Karz. Zeenat Aman and Vinod Khanna had acted with Feroz in Qurbani. There was no scope for Karz to work in this Dhamaal. Rishi had told that during that time he used to tremble even on coming in front of the camera.

 

Rishi Kapoor had said that he had a lot of expectations from Karz. He said, 'I thought this film would change the direction of my career. There was great music, a great star cast and everyone in the film had done a great job. Everyone was confident that the film would be a blockbuster.'
