Uttarakhand News: Uttarakhand Police has completed preparations for the holy Chardham Yatra starting from 30th April. Security and traffic arrangements have been strengthened in view of the arrival of lakhs of devotees. In this sequence, on Friday, IG of Garhwal Range and Nodal Officer of Chardham Yatra Rajiv Swaroop gave detailed information about the preparations in a press conference in Dehradun.

Rajiv Swaroop said that to maintain control and monitoring on the travel routes, a special Chardham Yatra control room has been set up in the Garhwal Range office, which will work 24 hours. This control room will respond immediately to any emergency, passenger problems and security related issues during the journey.

This year, for the first time, the Yatra route has been divided into 15 super zones, 41 zones and 137 sectors, so that administrative monitoring and police arrangements can be improved. Adequate police force will be deployed in all these sectors and every activity will be monitored round the clock.

Rajiv Swaroop said that this time the security arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra have been taken to an unprecedented level. 24 Deputy Superintendents of Police, 66 Inspectors, 366 Sub-Inspectors, 615 Head Constables, 1222 Constables, 208 Women Constables, 926 Home Guards, 1049 PRD Jawans, 9 Companies of PAC and 26 Sub-Teams of SDRF are being deployed on the entire Yatra route. This entire force will work actively in the security of the Yatra route, crowd management, traffic control and relief work during disasters.

CCTV cameras installed to monitor traffic

The biggest problem in the Chardham Yatra so far has been traffic jam and parking. Keeping this in mind, this time the police and administration have made a special plan. Parking places have already been identified at major stops and routes and arrangements have been made for passenger vehicles there. Also, CCTV cameras are being installed to monitor traffic and deployment of traffic police has been ensured at major turns.
