Bari. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a bilateral security agreement with the US during the G-7 summit. After this, Volodymyr Zelensky said that this agreement is a bridge for Kiev's attempt to join NATO.

He said that 'this agreement will help everyone, because Russia is a 'real global threat' to everyone. Zelensky further said that this is an agreement on security. This is an agreement on cooperation and thus our nations will become stronger. This is an agreement on steps to guarantee lasting peace and hence it will benefit everyone in the world.'

US-Ukraine talks continued for several months

The agreement follows months of negotiations between the US and Ukraine and is expected to see the US cover the costs of continued training of Ukrainian armed forces, weapons and military equipment, continued provision of military assistance, and greater intelligence sharing for up to 10 years.

The summit will run from June 13-15

The Group of Seven (G7) summit is being held in Apulia, Italy from June 13-15.
