Meerapur ByElection 2024: Samajwadi Party has announced the candidate for the by-election on Meerapur assembly seat of the state. SP has made Sumbul Rana its candidate on this seat of western UP. Now he will contest the election on SP ticket. Earlier, SP had announced the names of its candidates on six seats.

SP has announced its seventh candidate in the second list through social media late on Thursday evening. SP had announced the names of six candidates in its first list. However, till now SP has not announced the candidates for Ghaziabad and Khair assembly seats. Congress is demanding both these seats from SP under the India alliance. However, it is not yet clear which seats will remain with Congress in the alliance.

Samajwadi Party had released the list of six candidates on Wednesday last week. SP had nominated Tej Pratap Yadav from Karhal assembly seat, Naseem Solanki from Sisamau assembly seat, Mustafa Siddiqui from Phulpur, Ajit Prasad from Milkipur, Shobhavati Verma from Katehari and Dr. Jyoti Bind from Manjhwa assembly seat.

When will the by-election be held?
While the Election Commission of India announced on Tuesday that by-elections will be held on nine out of the 10 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. According to the Election Commission, voting will be held on November 13 for the Uttar Pradesh assembly seats of Karhal, Kundarki, Katehari, Sisamau, Khair, Ghaziabad Sadar, Mirapur, Majhwa and Phulpur and the counting of votes will be held on November 23. 

Let us tell you that both SP and Congress have indicated alliance. But till now there has been no talk on seat sharing between the two parties. If sources are to be believed, the party high command is talking on seat sharing. There is a possibility of announcement in one to two days.
