Lucknow. Monsoon arrived after the scorching heat and heat wave in May-June. After sporadic rainfall in the beginning, heavy rains occurred in the first week of July in the entire state including Lucknow, it seemed that this time the rainfall would break the record, but after July 10, monsoon weakened in more than 30 districts including the capital.

People are troubled by the heat and severe humidity. According to the data of the Meteorological Department, the level of rainfall in the state has been continuously decreasing since the year 2020. This year, from June till now, there has been 37 percent less rainfall than normal.

According to senior meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh, data of annual rainfall and monsoon rains from 1901 to 2023 has been studied. Rainfall has decreased in the last few years.

He said, this is not just a matter of four-five years, but in the 21st century, monsoon rainfall has been 20 to 40 percent less than normal. In the year 2020, 20 percent less than normal, in the year 2021, 43 percent less than normal, in the year 2022, 31 percent less than normal, in the year 2023, 16 percent less than normal and this year so far, 37 percent less rainfall has been recorded.

Heavy rain in eastern up today

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be heavy rains in eastern UP on Saturday. Especially, heavy rain warning has been issued in Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj and Siddharthnagar as well as Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit and surrounding districts.

Its effect can also be seen in Lucknow. However, a warning of thunderstorm has been issued with the movement of clouds in the capital. The series of rains is forecast to start here from Monday.

Apart from this, there is an alert of thunderstorm along with movement of clouds in Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Lakhimpur, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkarnagar, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Madhura, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Agra, Firozabad, Bijnor, Amroha, Rampur, Bareilly and adjoining districts for the next two days.
