America's newly elected President Donald Trump has suffered a major setback before his swearing-in. The US court has upheld his conviction in a criminal case of paying money to a porn star. An appeal was made to cancel his conviction on the basis of the recent decision of the US Supreme Court regarding the President's immunity from prosecution.

Shock to Trump before oath taking

Trump will take oath as President on January 20 next year. This will be his second term. New York Judge Juan M. Marchan gave his decision on Monday. Trump's lawyers had demanded to cancel his conviction. For this, they cited the recent decision of the Supreme Court regarding the President's immunity from prosecution. But the judge rejected their arguments. While the prosecutors said that this case is not related to official acts as President but to Trump's personal conduct.

Trump was found guilty

Let us tell you that in May last year, a jury convicted Trump of falsifying business records related to the payment of $130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016. This payment was made to the porn star to keep her mouth shut. This was the first case of a former president being convicted in a criminal case. A month later, the Supreme Court ruled that former presidents cannot be prosecuted for official acts.
