Kanpur: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has got permission from the headquarters to increase the toll tax, which will be effective from 12 midnight of June 2. The NHAI has increased the toll the most between Kanpur-Prayagraj highway, in which if you travel by car, you will have to pay Rs.55 extra at the Barauri toll plaza in Fatehpur and Rs.40 extra at the Katoghan toll plaza. The lowest toll of Rs.5 has been increased at Barajori, Anantram, Chamari (Ukasa) in Kanpur Dehat and Akavabad toll plaza of Unnao-Raebareli highway.
NHAI had decided to convert the 145.066 km four-lane road from Chakeri to Kokhraaj in Kaushambi on the Kanpur-Prayagraj highway into a six-lane road. After the construction work started in 2019, the toll tax was not increased for five years. Since 2019, one had to pay Rs 70 at Barauri toll plaza and Rs 55 at Katoghan toll plaza for a one-way journey by car.
On the other hand, on return within 24 hours, the toll at Barori toll was Rs 105 and at Katoghan toll it was Rs 85. Now the NHAI has increased the toll for one-way journey by car at Barori plaza by 78.57 percent to Rs 125, while on return within 24 hours it has been increased by 76.19 percent to Rs 185.
Similarly, in Katoghan, the toll has been increased by 72.73 percent to Rs 95, while on return within 24 hours, it has been increased by 70.59 percent to Rs 145. Toll rates have also been increased for buses, trucks, two-axle, three-axle, four-six axle and commercial vehicles carrying more than seven axles.
One way fare increased by Rs 5 at these toll plazas
NHAI has increased the toll tax by a minimum of five rupees. These include Barajori toll plaza in Kanpur Dehat and Anantram in Auraiya on Kanpur-Delhi highway, Chamari (Ukasa) toll plaza in Jalaun on Bara-Jhansi highway, Akavabad toll plaza in Unnao on Unnao-Raebareli highway, in which you will have to pay five rupees extra for one-way travel by car. Similarly, you will have to pay five rupees extra for returning within 24 hours.
Toll did not increase at these toll plazas
NHAI has not increased the one-way toll at Aliapur on Kanpur-Sagar Highway and Khanna Toll Plaza of Mahoba and Niwada Toll Plaza of Shivrajpur, Kanpur and Bashirpur Toll Plaza of Kannauj on GT Road, so if you pass by car, you will have to pay toll as before. However, if you return after 24 hours, you will have to pay Rs 5 extra at Aliapur on Kanpur-Sagar Highway and Niwada Toll Plaza of Shivrajpur, Kanpur and Bashirpur Toll Plaza of Kannauj on GT Road.
Permission has been received from NHAI headquarters to implement the increased toll rates. The maximum toll has been increased at Badori and Katoghan toll plazas of Chakeri-Prayagraj highway, because the toll here had not been increased for five years. The new toll rates will be applicable from midnight of June 2.

On GT Road, one-way toll has not been increased for car owners from Kanpur Nagar Shivrajpur Niwada and Kannauj's Bashirpur toll plaza, while on return within 24 hours, they will have to pay Rs 5 extra. Toll has been increased by 2 to 4 percent for heavy vehicles.
