Police took cognizance of the matter as soon as the Iftar video went viral. Acting swiftly, the police arrested all 14 accused seen in the video.
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Metropolitan President Rajat Jaiswal submitted a written complaint to the police in this matter. Based on the complaint, the police have taken action. The Kotwali police station in Varanasi has registered a case against 14 people. The Metropolitan President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha demanded the immediate arrest of the accused, following which the police have taken strict action.
Iftar video went viral on social media
After Iftar, the accused filmed the incident, which was posted on social media. After the video went viral, a BJP leader filed a police complaint against some unidentified individuals. Based on the complaint, the police began investigating the video.
Had Iftar sitting in a boat
It is being reported that all 14 accused had their Iftar meal on a boat in the Ganges. It is alleged that after eating chicken biryani, the bones were thrown into the Ganges. All of these accused are accused of desecrating the holy Ganges. Furthermore, throwing chicken bones into the Ganges is seen as an insult to the sentiments of Hindus.
Case registered under several sections
The police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the BNS (Intentional insult with intent to outrage religious feelings) Act, including Section 295A and others, and the Prevention of Water Pollution Act.
What did the complainant say on the matter?
The complainant states that followers of Sanatan Dharma have faith in Mother Ganga. People from all over the world come to seek her blessings and worship her. However, throwing meat into her lap in this manner by some individuals is a deliberate attempt to hurt sentiments. This incident has sparked outrage among various Hindu organizations, who have expressed their displeasure.
