In the last few years, many big budget films have been released in Bollywood, some of which were hits and some flopped. Some were such a flop at the box office that even the people who saw the collection of the film were left speechless. In 2019 also, a big budget film hit the theatres. This film had not one or two but 8 big stars. But, neither the big budget nor the big stars could attract the audience to the theatres. The situation became such that the film could hardly recover its budget. We are talking about the multi-starrer film 'Kalank' released in 2019, in which actors like Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Varun Dhawan, Kunal Khemu and Alia Bhatt were in the lead roles. But, this film could not do any special wonders at the box office.
The film was made on a big budget
Talking about the budget, 'Kalank' was made on a budget of about 140 crores, but the film flopped in the first weekend itself. Despite actors like Sanjay Dutt-Madhuri Dixit and Alia Bhatt and grand sets, the audience rejected the film outright. Even though the film had so many big stars, the audience said that we want a strong story. The film got negative reviews from the audience and film critics and the story of the film was also very weak, due to which it could not do much wonders in the theatres.
These big stars were in Kalank
With this multi-starrer film, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit were seen together after many years. The film made at a cost of Rs 140 crores managed to reach the figure of Rs 146 crores at the box office. The makers had a lot of expectations from this film, but when the number of viewers in the theatres started decreasing quickly, all the hopes were dashed.
The title of Kalank was earlier Shiddat
Talking about the film 'Kalank', the title of this film was earlier kept as 'Shiddat', but later due to some reasons the title was changed to Kalank. It is also said that the character played by Madhuri Dixit in the film was first offered to Sridevi. She had also signed this film, but before the shooting of the film started, Sridevi died. The shooting of the film started in April 2018, but before that she died on 24 February 2018.
