Midcap and smallcap index closed after recovering from the bottom. Auto, Pharma, PSE index closed on a rise. FMCG, Metal, Banking index closed on a decline. Rupee closed on a lower level against the dollar today. Rupee closed at 85.26 with a weakness of 6 paise against the dollar.
During the last 3 series, the market closed down by 10%. This is the biggest fall in the market since June 2022. Nifty also faced resistance at the level of 23,840 today.

After a day's work on Thursday, the Sensex closed at the level of 78,472. Nifty closed at the level of 23,750 with a marginal gain of 23 points. Nifty Midcap Index closed at the level of 57,126 with a gain of 68 points. Nifty Bank closed at the level of 51,171, down 62 points.
Which stocks saw action today
Adani Group stocks closed with gains today. Adani Ports closed with a gain of 5%. It was among the fastest stocks of Nifty. Auto stocks closed with gains just before the release of December sales figures. Bajaj Auto, Maruti Suzuki, M&M saw the most gains. BPCL closed with a slight gain after receiving an order of ₹ 765 crore from NTPC.
FMCG stocks closed with a decline. Titan, Asian Paints and Nestle were named in the list of Nifty's weakest stocks. After the announcement of opening 3,200 new stores, Ola Electric closed 7% down from the day's high. NALCO also closed with a gain of 1% today. Mobikwik also saw gains today. A block deal of ₹ 232 crore has taken place in this stock today.
