Bengaluru: A horrific incident has come to light from Bengaluru city. A drunk man near Bannerghatta on the southern outskirts of the city kicked and punched his father to death. You will also be surprised to know the reason behind the incident. Let us tell you that the boy's father had suggested him to wear dhoti instead of shorts. The young man got furious over this and killed his own father.

Velayudhan, 76, and his son Vinod Kumar (42) both hailed from a village near Sabarimala in Kerala and lived in Janata Colony.

The father used to ask him to wear a dhoti, the son killed him

Citing preliminary investigation, the police said Vinod banged his father's head against the wall on Saturday night while he was sitting on a cot. He then pushed him to the floor and kicked him more than 10 times, leading to his death.

However, Velayudhan's younger son Vimal Kumar said that Vinod also attacked his father with a knife. "My brother is an alcoholic and used to make my father drink alcohol almost every day. He did the same on Saturday night. My father suggested Vinod to wear a dhoti instead of short shorts. After which he (Vinod) attacked my father brutally and later killed him by slitting his throat," Vimal told media persons.

Vimal told that Vinod often used to beat him and his father over small matters.

Father and son had an argument after drinking alcohol

According to him, Vinod gave him Rs 300 on Saturday night and asked him to bring liquor. He said, "I brought liquor. Both my father and Vinod drank together and then they had an argument, after which the murder took place."

A senior police officer said that there were no knife wounds on the neck of the deceased. But Velayudhan died due to the brutal attack by Vinod. Vimal called the police helpline 112 and informed about the incident.

Police arrested the accused

The officer said that when our team reached the spot, Vinod was running away. We arrested him from a nearby area on Sunday and are questioning him.

Velayudhan is survived by his wife and two sons. Vinod lives separately from his wife and works in granite marketing. He was irregular at work and borrowed money from his father to buy liquor. Vimal is also unemployed. A suo motu case of murder has been registered and investigation is underway.
