Somvati Amavasya is an important day, which falls on Monday. This day has great religious and spiritual significance. Also, this day is dedicated to offering tarpan to the ancestors. According to the Hindu calendar, today i.e. 30 December, the last Somvati Amavasya of the year is being celebrated. At the same time, apart from worshiping the ancestors on this day (Somvati Amavasya 2024), there is also a provision for Shiva worship. Somvati Amavasya 2024 Shubh Muhurat

According to the Hindu calendar , Amrit Kaal will be from 05:24 pm to 07:02 pm. Then Vijay Muhurta will be from 02:07 pm to 02:49 pm. Along with this, Godhuli Muhurta will be from 05:32 pm to 05:59 pm. At the same time, Nishita Muhurta will be from 11:57 pm to 12:51 pm.

 

Somvati Amavasya Puja Vidhi (Somvati Amavasya 2024 Puja Vidhi)

  • Get up early in the morning and take a holy bath.
  • On this day, definitely go to take a dip in the holy river Ganga.
  • After taking bath, offer arghya to Lord Sun.
  • Perform Pinddaan and Pitra Tarpan for your ancestors.
  • Those who cannot go to the banks of the Ganga river should get Pitra Tarpan or Pitra Puja done at home by a knowledgeable Brahmin. Also give them food, clothes and Dakshina etc.
  • Organize a havan on this day.
  • On the day of Amavasya, definitely feed grains to dogs, cows, ants and crows.
  • You can also organize Pitru Gayatri for the peace of your ancestors.
  • Recite Bhagavad Gita on this special day.
  • Recite Vishnu Sahasranama.
