When Mahadev ordered Mother Parvati to kill the demons, Mother Parvati took the form of Mother Durga and killed Shumbh-Nishumbh.

Raktbeej had received this boon

After this, when Maa Durga faced Raktbeej, more Raktbeej demons were born than the blood in his body, because he had a boon that if a drop of his blood falls on the earth, then another demon like him will be born. In such a situation, Durga manifested Maa Kalratri with her light.
