Story of Mother Kalratri (Maa Kalratri Katha)

According to mythology, demons named Shumbh-Nishumbh and Raktbeej had created terror in the worlds. All the gods and goddesses were troubled by their atrocities. In such a situation, the gods and goddesses asked Lord Shiva for a solution to get rid of this problem. When Mahadev ordered Mother Parvati to kill the demons, Mother Parvati took the form of Mother Durga and killed Shumbh-Nishumbh.

Raktbeej had received this boon

After this, when Maa Durga faced Raktbeej, more Raktbeej demons were born than the blood in his body, because he had a boon that if a drop of his blood falls on the earth, then another demon like him will be born. In such a situation, Durga manifested Maa Kalratri with her light. After this, Maa Durga killed the demon Raktbeej, then Maa Kalratri filled her mouth with the blood coming out of his body before it fell on the ground. In this way Raktbeej was destroyed.
