On Saturday, terrorists ambushed an Indian Air Force convoy in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, in which one soldier was martyred while four other soldiers were injured. The condition of one soldier among the injured is said to be serious. Meanwhile, the army has intensified its search operation against the terrorists and additional army personnel have reached Jarra Wali Gali (JWG) in Poonch.

A picture of this attack has surfaced in which it is visible how the terrorists fired indiscriminately on the army vehicles. Marks of more than two dozen bullets are visible on the windscreen of a truck included in the army convoy. According to officials, the terrorists armed with AK assault rifles have fled into the nearby forests.

Search operation continues

The local Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unit has launched a massive search and cordon operation in the area. Even today, every vehicle passing through here is being searched by the security forces. Army vehicles have reached safely inside the air base located in the general area near Shahsitar. After receiving confidential information about the movement of suspicious people, the police with the help of paramilitary forces were conducting searches in Poonch city since Friday, however, this search was not successful. No one was arrested during the operation.

The terrorist attack took place at around 6.15 pm when the soldiers were returning from Jaranwali to the Air Force base. Officials suspect the involvement of the same group of terrorists who had ambushed soldiers in nearby Bufliaz on December 21 last year, in which four soldiers were martyred and three others were injured.
