New Delhi. Sawan 2024: The month of Sawan is more dear to Mahadev, the God of Gods. According to the Panchang, Ashadh Purnima is falling on 21st July. The month of Sawan will start from the next day i.e. 22nd July. Also, it will end on 19th August 2024. According to religious belief, by worshiping Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati in Sawan, all the wishes of the person are fulfilled and Mahadev is pleased.

According to the scriptures, the month of Sawan is considered to be the favourite month of Lord Shiva because Maa Parvati, daughter of Parvataraja Himalaya, performed a lot of penance in the month of Sawan to make Lord Shiva her husband . Mahadev was pleased with this and blessed her to fulfill her wish. It is believed that by worshipping Lord Shiva in this month, the Lord is pleased quickly.
There is also a popular story that in the month of Sawan, Bholenath comes to earth and goes to his in-laws' house. Where he is welcomed. Therefore, Shiva devotees perform Jalabhishek and Rudrabhishek to welcome him.
In Shiv Puran, the importance of Somwari fast has been mentioned. Both men and women observe the fast of Sawan Somwari . Married women get happiness and good fortune from this. On the other hand, unmarried people get the chance of getting married.
