New Delhi. Amid the border dispute in eastern Ladakh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Tuesday met Chinese Ambassador Shu Feihong and stressed on the common interests of India-China relations and said that they will work towards stability and progress. Apart from this, Jaishankar also held talks with the ambassadors of New Zealand, Kuwait and Sri Lanka in separate meetings.

Sharing a post on X, the Ministry of External Affairs said that welcomed Chinese Ambassador Shu Feihong. Discussed bilateral issues and stressed on bringing stability and progress in common interests. Wished him a successful tenure. The Foreign Minister has been constantly saying that relations between India and China cannot be normal until peace is established in the border areas.

Emphasis on increasing relations between the two countries

Foreign Minister Jaishankar said after the meeting that the Chinese ambassador has emphasized on taking the relations of both the countries forward in the right direction with India. It is noteworthy that Shu took charge as ambassador in Delhi on May 10, a post which was lying vacant in India for about 18 months.
