Ramayana is such an epic from which a person learns religion, justice and morality. This book describes the valor of Lord Rama and the purity of Mother Sita, and also mentions the sinful deeds of Ravana and their bad consequences. According to Shiva Purana, once Ravana, in the pride of his knowledge and power, insulted the great ascetic woman Vedavati. She was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu. Angered by the insult of her chastity and penance, Vedavati cursed Ravana that "he would die because of a woman". After saying this, Vedavati (Vedavati Cursed) entered the fire.
Due to this curse, Ravana also developed a fear of women, especially he was fully aware of the consequences of insulting any ascetic or holy woman. This was the reason why he was never able to touch Mother Sita .
Nalakubera had cursed
It is described in the Uttarakand of Valmiki Ramayana that ''Once Ravana tried to misbehave with his daughter-in-law Rambha (Rambha Cursed) . Rambha was the wife of Kuber's son Nalakuber. Rambha had informed Ravana about this, but Ravana did not listen to Rambha and misbehaved with her. When Nalakuber came to know about this incident, he became very angry and cursed Ravana that if Ravana tried to touch any woman forcefully, he would die at that very moment. This curse became such a bond for Ravana, due to which he was never able to touch Mother Sita.
When Ravan kidnapped Maa Sita and took her to Lanka, he kept her captive in Ashok Vatika. He made many attempts, but due to the fear of Nalakubar's curse, he could not muster the courage to touch Maa Sita physically, because he knew very well that if he did so, his end was certain.
