Jan Yatra Against Drugs: While the Punjab government has launched a campaign against drug trafficking in the state, now Governor Gulab Chand Kataria is also going to take out a padyatra against drugs in Gurdaspur and Amritsar districts. However, the Governor does not see his yatra as separate from the efforts of the Punjab government. According to him, the efforts being made by the state government are good and he also wants to support the campaign against drugs, for which he is going to take out a yatra.

On the other hand, Punjab Aam Aadmi Party president and cabinet minister Aman Arora has said that if the governor is taking out a rally against drugs, then it is a good thing. We are running a campaign against drugs by taking the people of Punjab along and it is a good thing that the governor is also taking out a rally against drugs.

Yatra will be taken out in Gurdaspur and Amritsar

The Governor's padyatra will be in Gurdaspur and Amritsar districts. The yatra will start from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur near the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor on April 3. The yatra will also be in Gurdaspur on the 4th. On the third and fourth day, the yatra will be in the rural areas of Amritsar. On the last two days, April 7 and April 8, the yatra will be in Amritsar city.

The Governor said that in the survey conducted by AIIMS in 2018, it was found that drug abuse is rampant in Punjab and this problem is becoming a challenge for Punjab. That is why I decided to go on a padyatra (foot march) so that I can also contribute to this fight.

The Governor said, "I have tried to ensure that representatives of all political parties participate in this and for this, leaders of all parties have been talked to."

The Governor praised the campaign being run by the Punjab Government against drug trafficking and said that the government is also serious against drug trafficking and bulldozers are also being run on the properties of drug smugglers.

On the opposition raising the question that the Aam Aadmi Party government is launching this campaign against drugs after three years whereas it should have been done earlier, the Governor said that it is the duty of the opposition to corner the government but everyone should be together on the issue of drug trafficking.
