Sultanpur Police Encounter: Politics has heated up over the death of robbery accused Mangesh Yadav in an encounter in Sultanpur, UP. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged that Mangesh was killed because of his caste. He called it a fake encounter. SP is raising this issue with full force. Today, SP leader Lal Bihari Yadav will meet the victim's family.
SP leader Lal Bihari Yadav is the Leader of Opposition in the UP Legislative Council. This morning he will reach village Agaroura in Thana Buksa Tehsil of Jaunpur and will meet the family members of Mangesh Yadav and console them. SP has also demanded action against the policemen involved in this encounter.
SP alleges encounter based on caste,
in fact Mangesh Yadav was involved in the robbery of Rs 1.5 crore at a jeweler's shop in Sultanpur on 28 August. After which the police was searching for him. Earlier on Monday, the police had caught three accused in an encounter. All three were shot in the leg. Late on Wednesday night, the police got the location of Mangesh Yadav, after which the STF got the location of the criminal near Mishrapur Puraina at around four in the morning.
Police claim that during the siege, Mangesh Yadav opened fire, after which Mangesh was badly injured in the retaliatory action. He was brought to Sultanpur Medical College where doctors declared him dead. There was a reward of Rs 1 lakh on Mangesh and several cases of robbery and dacoity were registered against him.
SP President Akhilesh Yadav had called this police encounter fake. He said that when the gang leader was caught, then the loot can be recovered. He said that Mangesh was killed because of his caste. BJP state president Bhupendra Chaudhary said that our government's priority is not to work by looking at caste discrimination between crime and criminals, the government takes action as per law.
