On Saturday evening, while digging for flower cultivation in Ward No. 1 Rajuna Chowki of the city of Lakhisarai in Bihar, a young man found a two feet tall ancient statue of Lord Vishnu in the field. On receiving the news of finding the statue, the villagers and women reached their fields and took the statue to the temple in the village and started worshipping it. On Sunday, despite a lot of efforts by the museum worker to bring the statue to the museum, the local people did not allow the statue to be taken away.

According to the museum worker, the statue is about a thousand years old. After getting information about the statue, a crowd of people gathered around. According to information received from the villagers, a young man named Anish Yadav was planting flowers in the field near the famous Ashokdham temple of the city on Saturday. During this time he was digging the soil, at the same time when he used the spade, the sound of something hitting the ground came. When the young man removed the soil and looked, he found the ancient statue of Lord Vishnu.

The villagers have kept the idol found during excavation in a temple in the village. The height of the idol is about 2.5 feet. Sudhir Kumar, President of Lakhisarai Museum, said that the idol is from the 12th century Pala period. Lord Vishnu is enshrined in the idol with all the major symbols. Shankh, Chakra, Gada and Padma are clearly marked on the idol. This idol made of black stone shows the craftsmanship of the Pala period. It also tells about the religious faith of that time.

When they went to meet the villagers to collect the idol found during excavation, they refused to give the idol, after which a complaint was made to the DM. He said that all the idols in the district are the property of the museum. People will be able to get information about them along with the arrangement for their maintenance. On finding the idol, people started coming from far off places for worship. Crowds started gathering there in no time.

ADM Sudhanshu Shekhar said that information about the matter has been obtained by reaching the museum. After the DM returns, work will be done on bringing the statue to the museum on Tuesday. He said that the statue will be brought to the museum soon.
