
Islamabad: Pakistan on Thursday launched a multi-mission communication satellite for faster internet connectivity with the help of China. This is Islamabad's second satellite to be sent into space within a month. Earlier, the iCube Qamar payload was sent with China's Chandrayaan mission.
Where was the satellite launched from?
The multi-mission communication satellite PakSat MM-1 was launched from Xichang Satellite Center in China's southwestern province of Sichuan, China News Agency reported. The satellite has entered the designated orbit. Pakistan Television has said that this satellite will provide better internet facility. It will also help in improving television broadcasting, cellular phone and broadband service.
Satellite will give service from August
Dawn has said that the satellite will start providing service in August. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has congratulated the countrymen on this. He has also said that he hopes that the satellite will help in providing fast internet facility across the country.
What did PM Sharif say?
PM Sharif said the communications satellite will not only improve the lives of Pakistani citizens but will also contribute to boosting economic activities, e-commerce and e-governance. He said it is a testimony to the strong cooperation and partnership between China and Pakistan.
