Uttarakhand News: The scope of investigation into the irregularities in the Pakharo Tiger Safari case is continuously increasing. The heat of the investigation of this case now seems to be reaching many more officials of the forest department. A new twist in this case came when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sent a letter to the CAMPA unit of the Forest Department, seeking information regarding departmental irregularities.
Through this letter, ED has expressed its intention to investigate CAMPA's works in depth. These were done under the guise of construction of Pakharo Tiger Safari. Investigation of other construction works has revealed that CAMPA's 5 crore 56 lakh rupees have also been misused. Out of this, the then DFO of Kalagarh Tiger Reserve spent 1 crore 70 lakh rupees against the rules on purchasing items like AC, fridge etc.
ED has now sent a mail to CEO CAMPA
CAMPA fund is generally used as compensation for development works of forest land. When any forest land is handed over to other departments for development works, the concerned department deposits the prescribed compensation amount in the CAMPA fund. But in the Pakharo Tiger Safari case, this fund was misused very well. ED, which is investigating this case under the Money Laundering Act, has now sent a mail to CEO CAMPA, in which a detailed report has been sought on several points on priority basis.
ED's investigation gives a new twist to this case
In this mail sent by ED's Deputy Director Rajiv Jain, some major points have been focused on for investigation. These include review of the use of CAMPA funds, authenticity of related construction works, and the role of forest department officials. Uttarakhand receives about three hundred and fifty crore rupees every year as CAMPA funds. Questions have always been raised regarding the use of this fund. But now ED's investigation has given a new twist to this case.
DFO may be questioned
As part of the ED investigation, many DFOs outside the Corbett Tiger Reserve may also be questioned. Due to which it is being speculated that the role of more officials may be exposed. Due to the investigation of this case, the officials of Uttarakhand Forest Department are losing sleep. The scam and misuse of funds in Pakharo Tiger Safari is being exposed layer by layer, which is revealing the seriousness of corruption in this area. In the coming days, more information is expected to come out about the results of the investigation and departmental action, which will make it clear what other irregularities and culprits are involved in this big scam.
