Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard met on Monday. In this meeting, many issues related to defense, security and mutual cooperation against terrorism were discussed between the two countries, but the thing that made this meeting different was the exchange of gifts between the two.
PM Modi presented Gabbard with a vase filled with Ganga water collected during the recently concluded Kumbh. Gabbard, who follows Hinduism, gifted PM Modi a Rudraksha rosary.
Second meeting in two months
This is the second meeting between Modi and Gabbard in the last two months. They had met during his US visit in February 2025. Gabbard arrived in India on Sunday. Gabbard is the first senior official of the new US administration to visit India during the second term of President Donald Trump.
Gabbard also met the Defense Minister
Before meeting PM Modi, Gabbard held a meeting with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. In this, there was an in-depth discussion on strengthening the existing defense relations between the two countries, especially the use of cutting-edge defense technology and joint development of related technology.
According to the information received, along with showing full commitment towards cooperation in the defense sector, India has also very clearly raised the issue of pro-Khalistan activities in America. The Defense Minister has once again asked the US administration to take concrete action against Khalistani supporters conspiring against India.
What did Defense Minister Rajnath Singh say?
After the meeting with Gabbard, Defence Minister Singh wrote on the social media site X that it was a great pleasure to meet Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence of America. We had a very serious discussion on partnership in the defence and information sector so that the relations between India and America can be strengthened further.
The Defence Ministry said that in today's discussions, there was a special emphasis on establishing a supply chain as per each other's needs in the defence sector so that capacity can be expanded in the concerned sector.
