Delhi Metro News: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched a new facility for passengers. Through the 'DMRC Sarathi-Momentum 2.0' app, passengers will now be able to book bike taxis and auto-rickshaws for the first and last station of their journey along with metro tickets. This service will reduce the distance between metro stations and destinations and provide better facilities to passengers.
Launched in collaboration with Autope Payment Solutions Ltd, this initiative eliminates the need for separate bookings. The service promises to revolutionise urban transport by making first and last mile connectivity easier.
How does the app work?
The user enters his destination in the app, after which the app suggests the nearest metro station and the best transport option
Bike taxi or auto can be booked to reach the starting station.
A second ride can be booked for the last mile before reaching the destination station.
If the metro station is within walking distance, the app does not suggest a vehicle. Soon, a walking navigation option will also be available.
Special facility for women
DMRC has partnered with Rapido and women-led startup SheRides for this service. SheRides will provide bike taxi service exclusively for women commuters. The app offers a one-stop solution for metro tickets and last mile travel, ensuring fast, affordable and reliable connectivity.
What did the officials say?
DMRC Managing Director Dr. Vikas Kumar said, "With this integrated service, we are going to solve the biggest challenge of urban mobility - first and last mile connectivity. This app will make metro travel accessible and convenient for everyone."
Meanwhile, Anurag Bajpai, CEO of Auto-Pay Payment Solutions Limited, said, "This partnership with DMRC is a big step towards smart urban mobility. We are making public transport better through technology."
