The trend of decline in midcap stocks continues. Nifty Midcap Index fell by 1000 points in Friday's session. This is the fourth time in the month of October when the Midcap Index fell by 1000 points in a single session. With the decline recorded on Friday, the Nifty Midcap Index has fallen by 6000 points from its record high level of 60924. The Midcap Index had recorded its highest level just a month ago on September 24. Along with this, about half of the stocks included in the index have registered double digit losses in the last one month.

Talking about the performance of the stocks, 12 stocks included in the index have registered a fall of 20 percent or more since September 24, i.e., when the index reached its record high. At the same time, the loss of 46 stocks has been between 10 to 20 percent. 30 stocks have fallen by one to 10 percent.
