UP School News: The Basic Education Department has termed the news of closure of more than 27 thousand schools in Uttar Pradesh and their merger as false and baseless. The department has said that no such process is going on. The Basic Education Department issued a statement saying - this is completely baseless and misleading, no such process is underway.

The department issued a statement saying- The news published in some news media which talks about closing down 27,000 primary schools by merging them with nearby schools is completely misleading and baseless. There is no process underway to close down any school.

It has been said in the statement that the Primary Education Department of the state is constantly making efforts to develop human resources and infrastructure in schools, improve the quality of education and reduce the drop out rate of students, especially girls. With this view, various studies are conducted from time to time. In the past years, there has been significant progress and improvement in the education sector in the schools of the state through schemes like Kayakalp, Nipun, Prerana etc. The interest of the students of the state is paramount for the department.

Mayawati and Priyanka Gandhi issued a statement
When this news came, Bahujan Samaj Party chief and former UP CM Mayawati was the first to react to it. She wrote on the social media site X - The UP government's decision to close down and merge the 27,764 council primary and upper primary schools with less than 50 students and merge them with other schools instead of taking necessary measures to improve them by making necessary improvements is not right. In such a situation, where and how will the poor children study?

The BSP chief had written- In UP and most of the states of the country, the condition of primary and secondary education is very bad, due to which crores of children from poor families are deprived of proper education, let alone good education. The decision of the Odisha government to close schools with less students is also unfair.

He had written that the result of such anti-poor and anti-people policies of the government is that people are being forced to educate their children in private schools, as is clear from the survey, but it is not right for the government to close these schools instead of making necessary improvements in them by giving adequate money and attention to education.

Congress leader and candidate for Wayanad Lok Sabha seat by-election, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, also reacted to this. Priyanka wrote- The BJP government of Uttar Pradesh has decided to close 27,764 primary and junior schools. This step is against the education sector as well as the children of Dalit, backward, poor and deprived sections. The UPA government had brought the Right to Education Act under which it was arranged that there should be a primary school within the radius of every kilometer so that school is accessible to children of every section. The purpose of welfare policies and schemes is not to earn profit but to do welfare of the people. BJP does not want education to be accessible to children of weaker sections.
