New Delhi. The matter of paper leak in NEET UG exam has heated up in the whole country. Many parties including Shiv Sena (UBT) demanded the resignation of the Education Minister. Meanwhile, the central government has also come into full action. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan says that the incident of NEET paper leak is not limited to Bihar only. This is the reason why the government has handed over the investigation of the entire matter to the CBI. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts these examinations, is under the most questions. Let us understand in 10 points what has happened so far in this whole episode?
1- NEET will not be cancelled
- The Education Ministry has made it clear that the government will not cancel the entire examination. If the examination is cancelled only because of the leaked paper in Bihar, it will be injustice to the students who have worked hard throughout the year. The Education Ministry also said that the case is being heard in the Supreme Court. We are ready to follow the court's order.
2- Director General was punished
- In the paper leak case, the first blow has fallen on the Director General of National Testing Agency (NTA) Subodh Kumar. Pradeep Kharola has been given additional charge of Director General in place of Subodh Kumar. Pradeep is the President of India Trade Promotion Organization.
3- Investigation handed over to CBI
- The Ministry of Education has handed over the investigation of irregularities in NEET-UG to the CBI. The CBI will also investigate the role of NTA officials. Let us tell you that the entire leadership of NTA is under the scanner in the paper leak case. The CBI will also investigate the UGC-NET exam case.
4- NEET-PG exam postponed
- The government has postponed the NEET-PG exam scheduled to be held on Sunday, June 23. The new date will be announced soon. The Union Health Ministry has also expressed regret to the students for postponing the exam.
5- Formation of a high level committee
- To make the entrance examinations foolproof, the Ministry of Education has constituted a seven-member high-level committee. Former ISRO Chairman Dr. K. Radhakrishnan will be the chairman of the committee. This committee will submit its report to the government in two months. The committee will give its suggestions regarding the examination process mechanism and security protocol of other data including question papers. The report will also contain suggestions for improving the structure and functioning of NTA.
6- Re-examination of 1563 students
- 1563 students who got grace marks in NEET-UG will have re-examination today i.e. on 23rd June. These students got grace marks due to wastage of time at six centers. After the controversy, the grace marks have been canceled. The re-examination of these students will be conducted at seven centers.
7- New law notified
- Amidst the paper leak controversy, the Central Government has recently notified the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act 2024. The purpose of this law is to conduct irregularity-free and fair examinations. Through this law, the way has been paved for giving strict punishment to those involved in acts like paper leak. The law provides for a maximum imprisonment of 10 years and a fine of up to Rs 1 crore.
8- Arrests made here so far
- Four people have been arrested in Bihar in the alleged paper leak case in NEET-UG exam. Five people have been arrested from Godhra in Gujarat. Cheques and electronic devices worth two crore three lakh rupees have been recovered from these accused.
9- Government is the protector of students' interests
- Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that there will be no injustice with hardworking students. The government is the protector of the interests of students. He said that it would not be right to harm the interests of talented students by cancelling the entire examination.
10- The dispute started from here
- NTA had given grace marks to 1563 students in NEET-UG exam. When this was revealed, there were allegations of irregularities in the exam. There was also a controversy over 67 students scoring 720 out of 720 marks. The special thing is that six of these students were from the same centre.
