Maha Kumbh 2025 News: Strong arrangements are being made for the security of saints and devotees in the Maha Kumbh starting from January 13 in Sangam city Prayagraj. Along with police, PAC and paramilitary forces, twenty teams of NDRF have also been deployed. The NDRF team is constantly testing its preparations by conducting mock drills in the Maha Kumbh area and is engaged in minimizing the quick response time.
In this connection, the NDRF has also conducted mock drills in the Ganga and Yamuna rivers in the Maha Kumbh area. During the fair, if any incident or accident occurs in the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, if a boat full of devotees capsizes or if a devotee slips while taking a dip and drowns in the deep water, then mock drills are being conducted to show how to save people's lives by being alert. Preparations are being made by making a list of the situations that may arise in case of different types of accidents.
How accidents happen. How to remain alert and keep watch. How to start rescue operation without wasting even a moment as soon as an accident occurs. Preparations are being tested and strengthened regarding which member of the team will have what responsibility. Rehearsals are being done in the same way as is to be done when the Quick Response Mela starts.
There is a high risk of accidents in rivers
NDRF Deputy Commandant Naveen Kumar Sharma has informed that more focus is being given to mock drills in rivers because the devotees coming to Maha Kumbh will come here only to take a holy dip in the rivers. A large number of devotees travel to the middle of the Sangam by boarding boats. In such a situation, there is a high possibility of accidents in rivers.
This Maha Kumbh is like a challenge for NDRF
According to Deputy Commandant Naveen Sharma, apart from water, mock drills are also being conducted at ground zero to test the preparations for how to act swiftly in case of disasters like fire, stampede, attack and collapse of a pandal. He says that this Maha Kumbh is like a challenge for the NDRF. Our team will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety of the devotees by being alert as always.
