Ghazipur. In the court of Special Judge SC-ST Act Shakti Singh, a hearing was held in the case of assault and threatening of a witness in jail by Angad Rai and Gora Rai, who are included in the list of top-10 criminals of the district and were shooters of Mukhtar Ansari.

The court has sentenced both of them to five years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of ten thousand rupees each. During this period, both of them were personally present in the court. After sentencing, both of them were sent to jail in judicial custody. 

According to the prosecution, Jitendra Ram was imprisoned in the district jail. He used to go to the barrack number 10 of the prisoners Angad Rai and Umesh alias Gora Rai to sweep the floor daily.

On 22 April 2009, Jitendra did not go to clean the house because of a boil. On this, they called him and beat him up, which broke Jitendra's left hand and also used casteist slurs and threatened to kill him. A case was filed against both of them in the city police station.

The police filed a chargesheet against both of them in the court. During the trial, both of them started threatening the witness Pramod Giri alias Pappu Giri with dire consequences for not testifying. Pramod Giri also filed a case in the police station and the prosecution provided security to the witness.

The witness' statement was recorded in the court. After the testimony of a total of seven witnesses in the case, the charges against Gora Rai and Angad were proved on June 7. During the hearing on Monday, the court sentenced both of them to five years of imprisonment and a fine of ten thousand rupees each. After the sentence, both were sent to jail.
