New Delhi: Bengali film 'Shontan' (Santan) starring veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, who recently won the Dada Saheb Phalke Award, will be released in the coming month of December. An official of the Bengali film industry gave this information on Tuesday. This film is based on the relationship between parents and their children. Mithun Chakraborty and Bengali actor Ritwik Chakraborty are playing the role of father and son in this film. Apart from them, Subhashree Ganguly, Kharaj Mukherjee and Sohini Sengupta are also included in the film.
On which day will Mithun's film be released
An official of the India Motion Pictures Association (EIMPA) said that the film directed by Raj Chakraborty will be released in theatres on December 20 on the occasion of Christmas and New Year. Apart from this, two other Bengali films, 'Khadaan' starring Dev, Jisshu Sengupta and Barkha Bisht and 'Paanch Number Swapnamoy Lane' starring Kharaj Mukherjee, Aparajita Adhya and Chandan Sen are also going to be released in December.

Mithun Chakraborty started his career in the year 1977 with the film Mrigayaa. In this film, he played the character of Ghinua for which Mithun Chakraborty also received the National Award for Best Actor. Mithun Chakraborty did films of every genre from action to comedy in his entire film career and won the hearts of the fans. However, he got the taste of success from the film Disco Dance. He became known by this name in cinema. He has also been awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India.
Mithun Chakraborty was a Naxalite before coming into films
Before coming into films, Mithun was a part of a Naxal group. He himself revealed this in an old interview. Mithun had said, 'People in the industry and outside it knew about my involvement in the Naxal movement in Calcutta and my close relationship with the fierce Naxal leader Charu Majumdar. I left the movement after a tragedy in my family, but the label of being a Naxal remained with me everywhere.'
