Mithun Chakraborty is being honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, one of the highest honours in the country. The Union Minister made the announcement through a post on the social media platform X on the morning of September 30. The minister wrote in the tweet, "Mithun Da's brilliant cinematic journey honours several generations."
Ashwini Vaishnav further wrote, "I am proud to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award the great actor Shri Mithun Chakraborty ji for his distinguished contribution to Indian cinema." Mithun will be honored at the 70th National Film Awards Ceremony, which will be hosted on 8 October 2024.

Born on 16 June 1950 in Kolkata, Mithun Chakraborty started his film career at the age of 24 with the film Mrigayaa. Mithun received a lot of praise for playing the character of Ghinua and he also received his first National Award for this.
