, Lucknow. Seeing the party's declining support base along with advancing age, BSP chief Mayawati now has high hopes of a 'miracle' from her young nephew Akash Anand. To repeat the results of two decades old '2007' in the assembly elections of the year 2027, Mayawati has placed a big bet on Akash and has once again made him her political successor as well as given him the responsibility of the post of National Coordinator. Akash will now be seen playing an active role not only in other states but also in Uttar Pradesh. Along with social media, small and big leaders of the party will be seen wooing the deprived society with Akash in the field as well.
In fact, the Bahujan Samaj Party which Kanshiram had formed four decades ago on 14 April 1984 to carry forward Dr. Ambedkar's mission for the Bahujan Samaj is going through its worst phase these days. Kanshiram had made Mayawati his political successor on 15 December 2001.
For the first time in 2007, a majority government was formed in the state
The BSP, which formed the majority government in the state for the first time with 30.43 percent votes and 206 MLAs in the 2007 assembly elections after Kanshi Ram's demise in 2006, currently has no member in the Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha. There is only one member in the assembly and no member in the Legislative Council either. The party's rapidly declining support base can be gauged from the fact that in the recent elections of the 18th Lok Sabha, the party got only 9.39 percent votes.
There are many reasons for the party's continuously deteriorating performance but one thing is clear that 'Behan ji' does not have the same magic as before, especially in the deprived society. The main reason for this is believed to be that 68-year-old Mayawati is now seen more active on the internet media. She is not as active as before among the officials or in the field, whereas in the changing times of politics, small and big leaders of other parties are constantly seen in the field.
Akash was given the responsibility of UP-Uttarakhand
In such a situation, Mayawati had tried to revive the party by declaring her 28-year-old nephew Akash Anand as her successor on 10 December last year, especially by increasing his influence among the youth of the deprived society. Then Mayawati had entrusted Akash with the responsibility of waving the 'blue flag' across the country except Uttar Pradesh-Uttarakhand. However, during the elections, Akash also held election rallies in Uttar Pradesh. Akash's aggressive stance in his speeches was also liked by the people of the deprived society, but Mayawati called him immature and removed him from all the posts during the elections itself.
The reason behind suddenly removing Akash from all the posts was that by taking such action, the BSP chief has sent out a message that in the interest of the party she will not spare even the 'family members' and at the same time Akash's image will not be affected in any way even if the party performs poorly in the elections.
Betting on the sky for 2027
Seeing the party's defeat in the Lok Sabha elections from the NDA and SP-Congress INDIAN alliance and the increasing activism of Chandrashekhar of Azad Samaj Party (Kanshiram) after becoming an MP, Mayawati has entrusted the responsibility of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand states to Akash considering him emerging as a mature leader in just 47 days. Betting big on her nephew to repeat the results of '2007' in the assembly elections of the year 2027, the BSP chief believes that Akash will live up to all her expectations.
Mayawati said that the district and state officials of the party will definitely go to any big event happening in the country or state, especially among the deprived society. Looking at the seriousness of the incident, Akash Anand will also reach the spot. Party leaders believe that when young Akash will go among the followers of Ambedkar-Kanshiram and the people of the deprived society, especially those who know Mayawati, then once again the elderly and the youth will gather under the 'blue flag'. In such a situation, sooner or later, a miracle will happen under the leadership of Akash and the party's days will definitely improve.
BSP will contest the assembly elections alone
Although BSP has once again been reduced to zero after contesting the Lok Sabha elections alone, BSP will also contest the assembly elections to be held after three years alone. In the meeting on Sunday, Mayawati said that the party has suffered a loss in this election due to the misguidedness of the deprived society.
Referring to the alliances made with SP and Congress in the past, Mayawati said that BSP has never benefited from alliances, so we should remain busy in preparing to contest elections alone. Go to villages and explain to the people of the deprived society that BSP is their friendly party, not SP-Congress, so give up the habit of being misled in any way and make BSP strong.
