Maha Kumbh Mela has great religious significance in Sanatan Dharma, which is going to be held this time from 13 January to 26 February 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. This fair is one of the biggest religious fairs in the world. People come from far and wide to participate in it. Let us tell you, Maha Kumbh Mela (Mahakumbh Mela 2025) is organized once in 12 years. During this, crores of devotees come to take bath at the holy confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. The history of Prayagraj dates back to ancient times. According to mythology, Kumbh Mela is related to Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean). It is said that the gods and demons churned the ocean together to obtain Amrit. Then the pot of Amrit was obtained.

It is believed that some drops of that Amrit Kalash fell on four holy places on earth i.e. Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik and Ujjain. This is the reason why Kumbh Mela is held only in these divine places.

It is said that the fight between the gods and the demons for Amrit lasted for about 12 days. Along with this, it is also said that twelve days of the gods are equal to twelve years of humans. This is the reason why Maha Kumbh is held after 12 years.

Apart from this, according to astrology, there is also a reason that when Jupiter is in Taurus and during this time the Sun God is in Capricorn, then the Kumbh Mela is organized in Prayagraj. Similarly, when Jupiter is in Aquarius and during that time the Sun God transits in Aries, then the Kumbh is organized in Haridwar.

Along with this, when the Sun and Jupiter are in Leo, the Maha Kumbh is organized in Nasik. Whereas, when Jupiter is in Leo and the Sun is in Aries, the Kumbh fair is held in Ujjain.
